Note: "popular sources" means these are easily accessed materials, widely available to all people.
Step one: go to the library's website. http://mansfield.osu.edu/blic
Step two: Scroll down to Academic Search Complete. (If you are more experienced or adventurous, here are all of the chemistry-centered databases.)
What may help you the most for this assignment is to explore Subject Terms and refine those with Keywords.
What are Subject Terms? They are specialized headings within each database that allow all relevant materials to be indexed and explored together. However, these terms differ from database to database.
To save time finding the ones to use:
Click on Subject Terms in the top left. Then start with what you may be looking for. An example might be "skincare."
Don't panic! This is why subject terms exist. Edit your search and make "skincare" two words: "skin care"
Now the results are showing you which relevant subject terms to use for your searches. Interestingly, there are a number of potentially helpful terms that come up with it. But for now let's just choose one and add keywords.* If you proceed as it is on the screen, it can be a bit of a tricky step, so for now just take your term of choice and go back to the regular search bar.
With the subject term in the top box, add in your desired keyword(s). These may be the terms you would think to put into a search engine, like "skin care and SPF use."
