COTC: Research & More

Use this guide to find research resources available through Warner Library and beyond; look here for links to selected databases & to learn how to conduct research, write the results and cite the sources.
Use OSU Libraries Online Catalog to find records of library materials of any kind in the OSU Libraries’ collections. Items that are available can be requested from other OSU locations and generally arrive within three to five days, but a search can also be defaulted to just what is on the shelf in Newark.

When requesting a book, you will need to enter your COTC ID number, with the letters CT in front of the number.  For example: CT0123456.

Type the keyword(s) in the box below then press Enter or click the Submit button.

(Use advance search)

Search Tips

Adjacency: Words can be searched as a phrase by enclosing them in double quotation marks.
Example : "art therapy"

Wildcards: Words may be right-hand truncated using an asterisk. '*' for 1-5 characters, '**' for open-ended truncation, '?' to replace a single character anywhere within a word.
Examples : art* [finds arts, artists, artistic]
art** [finds artificial, artillery]
gentle*n
gentlem?n

Boolean Operators: Use "and" or "or" to specify multiple words in any field, any order. Use "and not" to exclude words.
Example : stocks and bonds
Example : (alaska or canada) and (adventure and not vacation)

Proximity Operators: Use "near" to specify words close to each other, in any order.
Example : art near therapy

Grouping: Keyword search results are usually grouped by relevance to bring the most likely titles to the top of the list. Each group represents a similar level of relevance and results are sorted within the group by date or title. To get an ungrouped result set, use boolean operators to form a complex query. Click here for more details on Ranked Results
