The siege of CincinnatiCall Number: F499.C5 S54 2014 DVD
"In September 1862, 8,000 Confederate troops marched toward the defenseless Queen City. With only 48 hours to prepare, citizens gathered whatever they had to protect their homes and businesses. Upon the Confederate arrival in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky, 72,000 civilians had rallied against them. Without a shot being fired, the Confederates retreated, and with them, the potential to have advanced as far north as Pittsburgh, thus likely resulting in a Southern victory of the Civil War. As the Union hung in peril, the fate of Cincinnati had fallen into the hands of our people. The Siege of Cincinnati recounts this pivotal uprising, as well as the city's contributions to the war effort, including medical advancements, female employment, and The Black Brigade of Cincinnati: the first organized military unit of African Americans in the United States."
