The Center for Student Success coordinates and provides campus-wide programs and initiatives to encourage every student to experience success.

Academic Support Services

Successful students take advantage of resources that help them achieve better learning. Our academic support programs provide free in-person and virtual tutoring sessions in multiple subject areas.

Math Learning Center
Drop-in tutoring specifically for math and statistics classes.
The Writer's Studio
Peer writing consultants help you recognize the strengths and weaknesses in your writing.
Tutoring Center
Free tutoring in a variety of subjects from anatomy, history, physics, Spanish and more.
Testing Center
The Testing Center provides accessible, secure and confidential testing services in an optimal testing environment.

Office of Retention and Student Success Initiatives

The Office of Retention and Student Success Initiatives is committed to ensuring all students have the necessary supports, both inside and outside of the classroom, to fully realize their academic and personal potential at Ohio State Newark. Some of our services include:

Academic success coaches to assist with unexpected academic, health, financial, and/or social challenges.
Individualized academic success interventions.
Support programs for students with academic difficulties and/or on academic probation.
Learning communities that promote a sense of belonging and provide stronger connections with faculty, classmates and peer coaches.

Tutoring Center

Face-to-face tutoring

Takes place (for most subjects) in Warner Center Room 211 (second floor).
No appointment is required.

Embedded tutoring

Takes place in class.
No appointment is required.
Any Ohio State instructor who is interested in the possibility of having an embedded tutor in a course should email Bruce Weaver.

Online Student Readiness Assessment

The Online Student Readiness Assessment will help you evaluate your preparedness for higher education in an online setting and understand what can be expected from the Ohio State experience.

The assessment guides you to consider areas of strength and opportunities for growth with helpful tips and videos along the way. Once completed, you will receive a summary of Ohio State resources and tips for online learners. Fill out the form below to get started.

Student Resources

Career Development and Experiential Learning Services
The Office of Career Development and Experiential Learning Services provides the resources and strategies for choosing a college major, developing career plans, finding internships and full-time jobs, and making successful career transitions.
Counseling Services
The counselors of Counseling Services provide treatment to all enrolled Ohio State Newark students. Services provided include individual therapy, group therapy (on an as needed basis), education/consultation, on-campus referrals, and off-campus referrals within the community. All of these services are free and confidential.
Housing
Living on campus is one of the best ways to get the most from your education and to enhance your college experience.
Multicultural Affairs
The mission of the Office of Multicultural Affairs is to promote cultural awareness events and programs both on and off campus and create an environment that is conducive to the overall collegiate experience for students regardless of ethnicity, socio-economic status, origin, gender, race, sexual orientation or disability.
Recreational Sports
Newark Campus Recreational Sports provides intramural, recreation and fitness opportunities for students, faculty and staff of Ohio State Newark.

Student Conduct
The Office of Judicial Services is responsible for acting on behalf of the College/University in matters of student discipline. Judicial Services deal with alleged instances of behavioral misconduct and academic dishonesty, in order to determine how best to resolve these allegations consistent with the goals and mission of the College/University as an educational and intellectual community.
Student Food Pantry
The Campus Corner: Student Food Pantry opened in 2017 as a direct response to the need among our community of students for more resources to fight food insecurity.
Student Life Disability Services
At The Ohio State University at Newark, we believe all students should have equal access to higher education and college life. Student Life Disability Services (SLDS) provides accommodations and support services for Ohio State Newark students.
Student Organizations
With about 30 active student organizations each semester, there are many opportunities for students to get involved.
