NCSC Help: Google Scholar

Library help guide for students of North Central State College

Google Scholar

Google Scholar can be very useful when you're searching for articles online and even more useful if you have the special OhioLINK setting in place. If you don't put this setting in, you will most likely be asked to pay for access to articles that you already get for free through the library!

So how do I do it?

After going to Google Scholar, click on the button that is located on the top of the page.

Next, click on the "Library Links" tab on the left side and type "OhioLINK" into the search bar. You should see a check box next to the words "OhioLINK - Find it with OhioLINK" appear below the search bar.

Check this box and click save.

On the search page that appears next, try your keywords. In the Google Scholar results there should be links to resources along the right side of the screen. You will either see hyperlinks that take you directly to the article or a button that states "Find it with OhioLINK."

Find it with OhioLINK

If you click on this button, you will be asked to log into OhioLINK to access the database articles. For this, you will need your NCSC ID number which is the seven digit number on your ID card. If you don't have a card, you can find your number in MyNC. Don't forget to put NC in front of your ID number!
