To find books, you are going to use the library's catalog, below.
The Lima Campus Library (and a great many academic libraries) is organized by a system known as 'Library of Congress'. That means that books are grouped together by subject rather than author, letting you know where you can go to browse and potentially find some interesting books on the topic.
If you want help finding a book in the library, just print out the page from the catalog and bring it to the library. We're here to help!

Listed below are several encyclopedias that can lead you to information in the field of music and in other related fields. Encyclopedias are a book or set of books that contain a wealth of information on a subject, or on multiple subjects. Encyclopedias are also available in print on the library reference shelves to be used in the library.
- Classical Music Reference Library [OSU] This link opens in a new windowClassical Music Reference Library covers all classical genres, spanning music from the medieval period to the 21st century, including definitions of musical terms and biographical information on the major classical composers and artists. It includes biographies, chronologies, primary source readings, and critical texts, including the reference titles Baker's Dictionary of Music, Baker's Biographical Dictionary of Musicians, and Baker's Student Encyclopedia of Music.
- Garland Encyclopedia of World Music Online This link opens in a new windowThe Garland Encyclopedia of World Music Online is devoted to music research of all the world's peoples. Each volume contains an overview of the region, a survey of its musical heritage, traditions and themes, and a description of specific musical genres, practices, and performances.

- RILM Music Encyclopedias [OSU] This link opens in a new windowRILM Music Encyclopedias is a collection of 45 seminal encyclopedias in full text, comprising 95,000 pages and including historical and current encyclopedias published between 1775 and 2017. It is international in scope, providing access to content written in the key languages of musicological research, among them English, German, French, Italian, Czech, Dutch, Greek, and Slovak. It is a collection of encyclopedia content spanning the most important disciplines, fields, and subject areas of historical musicology and ethnomusicology, with subject-specific focus on topics ranging from popular music, opera, instruments, blues and gospel, to recorded music and women composers.
The Online Writing Lab (OWL) at Purdue University houses writing resources and instructional material, and these resources are provided as a free service of the Writing Lab at Purdue. Students, members of the community, and users worldwide will find information to assist with many writing projects.

The collection will contain performances of all forms of classical music, including major orchestral performances by leading orchestras, plus chamber music, oratorio, and solo performances, along with masterclasses and interviews with master teachers from around the world.

This ever growing collection includes recordings from the world's greatest labels including Hyperion, Bridge Records, Sanctuary Classics, Artemis-Vanguard, Hänssler Classic, Vox and many more. Coverage includes music written from the earliest times (e.g. Gregorian Chant) to the present, including many contemporary composers.
