The Gate Today

Today the Brandenburg Gate is open to the public, it is one of Berlin's most popular sights and stands fully restored as it would have in the 19th century. The Guard houses that flank the wall have been converted into visitor information centers. The Quadriga stands a top the gate, no longer as a symbol of victory but instead now represents unity for its people.

It is easy to get caught up in the merchandising and commerce that surrounds the gate and never even know its story. When one takes the time to consider the Gate's incredible story of survival and the ideas that it has stood for, they come away with a more important message. the Brandenburg Gate has and no doubt always will represent the People of Germany. No matter how much it is changed, damaged, blocked off, or even stolen. The Gate will forever symbolize the German People and their unity as a Whole Country.
