One Button Studio: Introduction

The One Button Studio is a simplified video recording setup that can be used without any previous video production experience. You can create high-quality video projects without having to know anything about lights or cameras, because the equipment is pre-set. You need to bring only a flash drive with you and push a single button. (http://onebutton.psu.edu/)

We recommend using at least a 16GB flash drive. The better your drive, the better the quality of your video. Also, be sure it is formatted to FAT32. For information on formatting, please visit the One Button Studio Support Page. Please note the studio is only for recording, not for editing videos.

You can reserve the One Button Studio by clicking the link below.

Reserve Your Time on the One Button Studio Calendar.

One Button Studio: Policies

Checking out the OBS key constitutes an agreement to abide by OBS policies as posted here and in OCIO's policies document, Responsible Use of University Computing and Network Resources (PDF). Failure to adhere to these policies may result in the loss of privileges.

The studio is open to all Ohio State University and Rhodes State College faculty, staff, and students. You will need a picture ID and an active library record (no blocks or fines over $50) to check out the key to the studio.

OBS reservations may be made only on this website. The room may be used for 15-minute sessions. Patrons may reserve multiple sessions if necessary, but please be courteous and reserve only the time needed. If the studio is not reserved, it is available for walk-in use. Reservations are on a first come, first served basis. Reservations may be forfeited if the room isn’t occupied within 10 minutes of the reserved time. No more than three people can be in the studio at one time. Please consult with library staff for any exceptions.

Patrons are responsible for any damage to OBS equipment during the checkout period. At the end of the OBS session, please shut the door before returning the key to the circulation desk.

Please consult with library staff before moving furniture in or out of the studio. Please do not move the computer console. Do not adjust the lights or microphone.

Known Issues

Sometimes Windows Media Player will not align the sound and video, so they are out of sync. If that happens, try using VLC. It is a free, open source media player: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html.
