A typical shift could include the following....
- Print paging slips and pull requested books
- Check the student memo blog
- Shelve books on the return cart (and elsewhere in the library)
- Do hourly patron counts & straighten library
- Incoming/ Outgoing Shipments (if trained)
- Search Lists
- Shelf read
- Customer Service: Assist students, faculty, and staff in person or by telephone & record customer transactions (AKA Reference Questions)
- Perform opening/closing procedures
- Straighten the library before you leave
If you run out of things to do, please ask your supervisor for something to work on. If you are asked to watch the front desk, only then may you work on homework.
