Access to Bromfield Library is not limited just to students, faculty, and staff of NCSC or Ohio State. Occasionally community members or other individuals may be interested in signing up for library privileges.
There are two main types of access available: local courtesy cards and Ohio State University courtesy cards.
Local Courtesy Cards
Members of the community who are not affiliated with either college may apply for a local courtesy card, which is good for one year. The Local Courtesy Card registration form is kept at the front desk.
Cardholders may check out 2 Mansfield items at a time. They are not able to access materials from other OSU locations or through OhioLINK.
Local courtesy card members are able to access databases while in the library.
Community members must have a photo ID (State ID, Driver's License, or Passport) in order to apply for a courtesy card. Please have them fill out an application, photocopy their ID, and give documents to regular staff to enter into the computer. Forms are located in the “Patron Registration & Forms” binder or you can print form from the circulation computer.
OSU Courtesy Card
The OSU Courtesy Card allows those with connections to Ohio State--but who are not faculty, staff, or students--access to certain library resources. Common types of OSU courtesy card patrons include…
Note: Courtesy cards do not give patrons home (remote) access to electronic databases.
The OSU Courtesy Card registration allows a patron to borrow a maximum of 10 items (up to 5 from OhioLINK). This type of registration allows access to more materials than our local courtesy card (2 local items)—however, it is not open to everyone.
If a patron inquires about a courtesy card, refer him or her to regular staff. For more information see the documents attached below or the "Patron Registration" binder behind the front desk.
