TO CHECK OUT...

A patron needs to have a photo ID--typically a University ID, current driver's license, or passport.

If a faculty/staff member wants to check out without a photo ID, find a regular library staff member to verify his or her information. If regular staff are not available the faculty/staff member must show ID to check out.

You may also checkout materials to your co-workers.

Anyone else (even your friends), must show ID. When students don't have their ID's with them, offer to hold their items for 24-hours using one of our short-term hold slips.

No one can check out using another person's ID unless they meet certain strict requirements and have previously filled out a Patron Authorization Form. For example, TA's (Teaching Assistants) are sometimes authorized to pick up materials for their professors. This relationship will be noted on the professor's record.

The patron's total fines must be under $50

The patron must have a non-expired record

Student records will expire shortly after they leave the university (the same is true for faculty and staff when they are no longer employed by the university).

If you see an expired record (and the patron believes this is incorrect), get your supervisor to assist.
